You’ll discover hidden gems rarely visited by tourists; you’ll hear about ancient tales and myths that shaped these lands; you’ll unravel the mysterious lives of knights, witches, barons, priests, and wonder if you’ll be the next to meet their ghosts on your next trip to this wonderful region.

Please note that this short course is delivered in English, so no knowledge of Italian is required. Additionally, please be aware that during the course you will be hearing stories and legends from medieval times, and there are some references to violence.

What is the course about?

This short two-session course will take you on a journey through the region of Tuscany. The tutor will talk about many sites that are less well known, proposing ideas and possible routes for a fantastic holiday full of history and tales.

This is a live online course. You will need:
- Internet connection. The classes work best with Chrome.
- A computer with microphone and camera is best (e.g. a PC/laptop/iMac/MacBook), or a tablet/iPad/smart phone/iPhone if you don't have a computer.
- Earphones/headphones/speakers.
We will contact you with joining instructions before your course starts.

What will we cover?

This short, two-session course is meant to introduce you to parts of Tuscany you may never have heard of, and tell you some of the stories and legends associated with these places.

What will I achieve?
By the end of this course you should be able to...

- Discover beautiful, but less well known sites.
- Hear stories and tales that are at the core of Tuscan folklore.
- A map of possible routes for an untraditional holiday on the road.

What level is the course and do I need any particular skills?

This course does not require any previous knowledge of Italian language or history. The course is delivered in English.

How will I be taught, and will there be any work outside the class?

There will be a mixture of tutor-led lecture, videos, and group discussion. Some group or pair activities might be included. A list of the points of interest and routes will be provided at the end.

Are there any other costs? Is there anything I need to bring?

Bring writing material if you wish to take notes. No additional costs are required.

Giacomo Fabbrini

Giacomo Fabbrini is a native Italian speaker. He obtained an acting degree in 2004 at Auroville Rome Academy. He also graduated from Rome University “La Sapienza” with a BSc (Hons) in Psychology in 2007. He moved to London in 2012 where he studied for a CLTA modern languages qualification. Giacomo has over 6 years of experience in teaching Italian to all levels and business. He strongly believes that a language is not only about rules, but also a real journey in history, tradition and Italian culture. He is passionate about technology and apps and enjoys giving his students tools and suggestions on how to use them in language learning.
