What is the course about?
This course is designed to prepare counsellors, psychotherapists to set up their own private practice. It aims to look at as many different aspects of private practice as possible - practical, emotional, financial, ethical - and to offer a forum where ideas can be shared and practical information provided.
What will we cover?
The course will cover the emotional and material preparation and support needed to set up in private practice. We will look at marketing, fees, insurance, peer support, supervision, location of private practice, timetabling of sessions, self-care, assessment, contracts, boundaries between work and not-work and how to enjoy the challenge.

What level is the course and do I need any particular skills?
This course is suitable for qualified counsellors and psychotherapists who are soon to be qualified and are thinking of setting up in private practice.
How will I be taught, and will there be any work outside the class?
There will be teaching input from tutor, as well as some work in pairs, small group discussions and sharing in the whole group. Students should be willing to contribute from their own thinking and experiences as far as is comfortable for them.
