What is the course about?

The course has been designed for the people who would like to be introduced to bookkeeping and gain understanding of basic elements of accounting.

What will we cover?

Double entries for invoices and credit notes
Produce invoices with trade and settlement discounts
Working with different tax codes.

What will I achieve?
By the end of this course you should be able to...

Post an invoice, credit note, and payment
Calculate invoices and credit notes with trade and settlement discounts
Balance ledger accounts
Obtain the trial balance.

What level is the course and do I need any particular skills?

Target of the course is to introduce you to the subject of bookkeeping and make you ready to enrol for Level 1 bookkeeping course. Familiarity with using a calculator and having basic numeracy skills and entry level 3 English are also recommended.

How will I be taught, and will there be any work outside the class?

Each student will work on the given exercise sheet and course works. Presentations will be made using computers, interactive boards and printed notes. Step by step instruction, with demonstrations where appropriate, will help you grasp the concepts.

Are there any other costs? Is there anything I need to bring?

Bring a calculator and pen and paper to take notes.

When I've finished, what course can I do next?

An introduction to Bookkeeping, Introduction to business accounting, Introduction to Sage Payroll or Introduction to Sage accounts.
