Skills Bootcamps for Londoners
City Lit’s Technical Theatre Bootcamp trains learners in lighting, sound, AV, and full theatre production. Delivered over 86 guided hours with 1:1 support, it supports aspiring freelance technicians not yet working in the sector.
Based in London’s theatreland, the course is co-designed with Camden People’s Theatre and includes shadowing, live event support, and hands-on experience in a live production.
Learners gain the technical and transferable skills needed to prepare for self-employment in this high-demand field.
The programme is funded by the Mayor of London and the Department for Education (Skills for Life campaign).
The bootcamp is free of charge for eligible Londoners aged 19+ who have the right to work in the UK, are not currently in full-time education or undertaking another bootcamp. Eligible learners also need to have resided in the UK for the past 3 years and have not already acquired substantial skills or knowledge in technical theatre through prior learning.
The Bootcamp runs from November to March. The November 2025 programme is now fully booked. We will update this page with application details when the 2026 programme is confirmed.
