What is the course about?

The class focus is on general dance stretches, postures, breathing techniques and relaxations to help improve overall flexibility and movement. The aim is to have a fun yet challenging class, whilst improving your physical wellbeing and helping you feel more confident and positive about yourself. Stretching through dance is known for preventing injuries, improving alignment, relieving tension and of course loosening those tight joints and muscles.

What will we cover?

Each lesson will start with a full body group warm-up, followed by floor exercises. All exercises are taught using structured exercises and combinations.

What will I achieve?
By the end of this course you should be able to...

Demonstrate essential stretching technique
Identify improved flexibility, strength and stamina
Perform stretches and stretch combinations with greater confidence.

What level is the course and do I need any particular skills?

In order to get the most from the course you will be able to:
• Follow spoken instructions
• Use numbers to recognise rhythms within dance.

How will I be taught, and will there be any work outside the class?

The course has a physical approach from beginning to end with structured exercises to improve different stretching qualities. The class is tutor led and you will be taught through demonstration and explanation. We encourage you to stretch in your own time to perfect the work but there is no formal requirement to do so.

As part of the course content, your tutor may record your image for initial and ongoing assessment purposes. You are entitled to decline to participate in the recording of your image.

Are there any other costs? Is there anything I need to bring?
