What is the course about?
The course examines attachment styles and their impact on the therapeutic relationship for clients and counsellors. Identify the main characteristics of different attachment styles and how they manifest in the counselling process. Course participants will be encouraged to explore their personal attachment style, how it arose and the impact on their clients using a range of measures. Emphasis will be placed on the importance of developing a learned secure attachment style for both client and practitioner.
This is a live online course. You will need:
- Internet connection. The classes work best with Chrome.
- A computer with microphone and camera is best (e.g. a PC/laptop/iMac/MacBook), or a tablet/iPad/smart phone/iPhone if you don't have a computer.

The role of attachment across the lifespan
The range of attachment styles
The range of measures to identify attachment style in both clients and counsellors
How client and practitioner attachment style interact to aid or hinder the therapeutic relationships
The importance of developing a learned secure attachment style in both client and counsellor.

The course is aimed at counsellors, therapists, other helping professionals and trainees. It is not for those seeking help for the course topic.
How will I be taught, and will there be any work outside the class?
Presentation, experiential learning, small group work and class discussion.
