What is the course about?

To provide students with an understanding of the fundamentals of spoken Turkish. To provide students with the ability to understand simple conversational Turkish and with the confidence to speak and respond in an appropriate way.

What will we cover?

Greetings, introducing yourself; numbers, shopping, some cultural information.

What will I achieve?
By the end of this course you should be able to...

- Basic greetings

- Introduce yourself

- Use numbers up to 10

- buy items

- Converse in Turkish using simple structures.

What level is the course and do I need any particular skills?

Beginner's course - no previous knowledge required.

How will I be taught, and will there be any work outside the class?

Our courses are characterised by spoken interaction and communication. Typical activities include pair work, group work, role plays and games. A range of resources will be used to support your learning including presentations, hand-outs, and audio-visual material.
Homework is highly recommended to consolidate learning.

When I've finished, what course can I do next?

Turkish beginners: module 1 in September . However, you will be revising some of the work already covered in this introductory course.Please speak to your tutor for advice.

Cavidan Seyitcemaloglu

Cavidan, is a bilingual speaker of Turkish and German. She has been teaching for over 10 years at adult education institutes, and sixth form colleges. She holds a PGCE and QTLS has experience in teaching Turkish and German across all stages. She works also as an assessor for Turkish language. Cavidan undertook an MA in German Language and Literature, has worked as chartered Translator/Interpreter and as a Journalist. Her classes are very interactive and activities are planned for different learning styles. Cavidan says: “I enjoy very much facilitating learning in a relaxed atmosphere where students can enjoy learning and develop their passion for languages further”.
