What is the course about?
This course follows on the Video blogging with YouTube: intermediate course. To enrol on this course you must have completed the intermediate course or have equivalent level: ie. You must have your own working Youtube channel with video content and have the basic skills of video editing.
This course will teach you how to enhance your own vlog in YouTube, how to customise and implement its functionality utilising YouTube full capabilities as a website, social network, video editor and publisher. You will learn how to promote your own channel as an individual, a brand / project / business channel or multiple channels and will populate it with sections featuring different video content from your own and other channels, sharing and linking with other vloggers and networks.
You will further develop your video editing skills in YouTube with the open source software Shotcut putting your videos together to build a story to music and sound. You will learn advanced video editing skills: how to color correct your videos, add effects, styles and titling and change them over time using animation and keyframing in Shotcut. You will learn how to use recently added new features that focus on interactivity and promotion in Youtube Creator Studio. You will understand and take advantage of Youtube Statistics and advanced settings.
By the end of the course you will have a running and working vlog that you’ll be able to manage and update yourself subsequently to the course. Video material will be provided although you can bring your own*. This hands-on course focuses on the technical and functional side of creating, maintaining and managing a vlog.

By the end of this course you should be able to...
• Have the skills necessary to build, maintain and update your own YouTube channel vlog
• Edit, publish and manage you videos in YouTube Creator Studio
• Further edit you videos in Shotcut using animation
• Add online content to your vlog
• Interact with the world through your vlog and other social networks.
• Further enhance your channel: multiple channels, advanced editing, advanced promotional features
• Understanding and taking advantage of Youtube Statistics and advanced settings.
What level is the course and do I need any particular skills?
You should have a Gmail account in full working order with known username and password you can access and are ready to use at the start of the course. You should have completed the course Video blogging with YouTube: Intermediate before joining. You should be able to use a Windows computer comfortably, the internet and email. You should be able to follow simple written and verbal instructions to support demonstrations, hand-outs and health and safety information, and will be invited to take part in group discussion. You should be able to use numbers and do simple measurements and calculations.
How will I be taught, and will there be any work outside the class?
You will be taught step by step through using demonstrations and presentations and by completing practical exercises on Computer. Each student has access to a computer for practical work. This is a very hands-on course where you will make your own vlog as you learn. Although it will be individual work primarily, some group work may also take place.
Are there any other costs? Is there anything I need to bring?
You should have access to your existing social media account(s) and remember to bring with you the log in details and your student number. If you don’t have existing account(s) you will need to bring a valid email address and its password to sign up for a new account. This will help you to practice the course content during the class and gain valuable hands-on experience. You should bring a USB stick/drive Windows compatible with your own video files (no transfer from cameras or phones will be possible) and to take course documentation back with you.

She holds an MA in Digital Moving Image from London Metropolitan University and teaches Web Design, Video Editing, Blogging and Video Blogging to adults. She started teaching 8 years ago to share her passion for digital art and new technologies with others. Yolanda’s video and installation work has been exhibited across the world including Madrid Abierto and Sala Rekalde in Spain, Zendai Museum of Modern Art in Shanghai, Arte Channel in Canal+ (France), and the Center for Art and Media in Karlsruhe (ZKM), Germany. She has screened in over 50 international video film festivals where she has won awards such as the International Digital effects Award at the Sydney Underground Film Festival.
