What is the course about?
This course looks at the various ideas that have been put forward as to how the global order currently exists, and how it might exist in the future.
This is a live online course. You will need:
- Internet connection. The classes work best with Chrome.
- A computer with microphone and camera is best (e.g. a PC/laptop/iMac/MacBook), or a tablet/iPad/smart phone/iPhone if you don't have a computer.
We will contact you with joining instructions before your course starts.
What will we cover?
The course will cover the established visions during the main part of the 20th century and those that have come to challenge them in the post Cold war era. This will include themes such as:
- The universality of the West and liberal order
- Challenges to it from other cultures, civilisations and ideologies.

By the end of this course you should be able to...
-Explain theoretical and empirical visions of the global order
-Analyse current and future visions of how global economic, social and political order may look.
What level is the course and do I need any particular skills?
No background knowledge is required.
How will I be taught, and will there be any work outside the class?
The course will be taught through a combination of lectures, seminars and workshops.
