What is the course about?
The City Lit Visual Arts open day is a great opportunity to learn more about our courses. On the day, you will be able to:
• Access advice and guidance on all our courses within Visual Arts.
• Meet our specialist tutors.
• Experience classes and workshops in delivery.
• Tour our facilities and state of the art studios.
• Join drop-in practical workshops.
• Receive expert advice on your creative work.
• Select a course or a complete study path to achieve your personal goals.
• Interview and receive an offer on the day for courses in our Advanced Practice area.
• Meet some of our current students and see the work they are doing.
What will we cover?
As part of our Art and Design Open Day, you will be able to attend the following events:
• A programme of talks and presentations by students and staff in our Cultureplex space.
• A range of drop-in practical, creative workshops facilitated by our expert tutors.
• An all-day schedule of studio tours.
• A portfolio surgery.

12:00-13:00 Beyond the White Cubes - students from the Developing Art Practice course talk about their work and exhibition in the City Lit gallery.
14:00-16:00 Open Crit with students from Developing Art Practice.
13:15-14:00 Creative Curiosities: What is your project? - Ian Tucknott, Contemporary Practice Personal Project, Course Leader.
Drop-in Practical Workshops:
10:45-12:45 / 14:00-15:30 Illustrating Children’s Books: It’s time to celebrate! Join our animal party – a workshop for adults wishing to explore children’s book illustration.
11:00 -15:00 PASCH.net.Print - an interactive printmaking collaboration led by the students of Advanced Printmaking: Experimentation and Development.
11:00-12:45 / 14:00-15.30 Animation and Experimental Film.
11:15-12:45 Bookbinding: Fans and Folds, making books without glue.
11:15-12:45 / 13:30-15:15 The Pre-Foundation Experience.
12:00-14:30 Jewellery Making and Mindfulness.
13:00 -15:30 No one is too small to make a difference - typography workshop.
There are limited spaces on these workshops, so availability is on a first come, first served basis.

Individual portfolio advice at our drop-in Portfolio Surgery.
On the spot enrolments and interviews for our Advanced Practice courses.

Access advice and guidance on all our courses within Visual Arts throughout the day. If you want to further develop your portfolio before applying for a course, key staff will be on hand to review your portfolio and help plan your study for the year ahead. It will be possible to enrol on the day and for those attending, discount codes for Visual Arts courses will be available.
