What is the course about?
This course aims to develop your understanding and accuracy in using the present and the near future.
This is a live online course. You will need:
- Internet connection. The classes work best with Chrome.
- A computer with microphone and camera is best (e.g. a PC/laptop/iMac/MacBook), or a tablet/iPad/smart phone/iPhone if you don't have a computer.
We will contact you with joining instructions before your course starts.
What will we cover?
The near future (futur proche).
The present tense (regular and irregular verbs).
Routines and house chores.
What will I achieve?
By the end of this course you should be able to...
- speak about diverse subjects in the present tense
- speak about house chores
- say why one likes a particular season using IR verbs
- use irregular verbs effectively
- speak about futur events using the near future.
What level is the course and do I need any particular skills?
This course is ideal for students with an elementary level of French (A2 of the CEFR) or who are doing French 2 lower at City Lit. It may also be suitable for students at a higher level who need to revise and consolidate these tenses. If in doubt, please contact languages on firstname.lastname@example.org for advice.
How will I be taught, and will there be any work outside the class?
Our courses are characterised by spoken interaction and communication. Typical activities include pair work, group work, role plays and games. A range of resources will be used to support your learning including presentations, hand-outs, and audio-visual material.

After studying English in a French University, Sylviane decided to move to the UK and very soon, started to give French Private Tuitions. Sylviane speaks 5 languages and is currently learning Shikomori, a language related to Kiswahili. "Learning French helps you understand many different cultures and its people (Francophones countries). Learning a language is also best to nothing else to keep dementia away".
