Advanced Media & Communications Courses in London
In addition to supporting learners to progress into Higher Education, or to become confident and fully independent creative practitioners via alternative routes, one of the aims of the Centre for Advanced Practice is to reflect through our course offer the profound changes, over recent years, in the ways that the visual arts are produced, distributed and consumed. Since the Centre was formed, we have introduced more courses in the area of media and communications than in any other, ranging across graphics and illustration, and incorporating lens-based, time-based and digital media, with more to follow.
As individuals, we each have access to a range of image capture, processing and communication tools – in our pockets or on our desktops – unimaginable just a few years ago, as well as the opportunity, as artists and designers, to place them at the service of our creative imaginations through a practically infinite range of combinations of text, image, sound, animation… In our advanced media and communications courses, the use of technology is considered and developed in conjunction with ideas, critical and theoretical understanding, and cultural contexts, as well as the use of traditional hand skills, such as drawing and collage or storyboarding.
On our advanced media and communications courses, you will build on your existing skills and techniques, alongside a deep understanding of current cultural and critical contexts, and focus on the development of an individual practice in which both are combined to enable you to take advantage of the truly astonishing range of possibilities available today.
