Photography Courses in London

From photography for complete beginners to specialist courses and subject based classes, we offer a wide range of photography courses taught both in our designated photography studio and off-site.

Learn and develop a range of photographic skills within a professional surrounding with a studio that offers a large open and flexible space, suitable for both collaborative and individual learning. Students will have access to the latest professional resources including a complete lighting rig and back drops and array of digital cameras including DSLRs. .

Students studying photography at City Lit will use Apple MacBook pros with the latest Adobe CC and camera editing software to help with final edits, making sure our students leave with professional images. Taught by our specialist team of freelance and industry professionals, students will receive expert hands on guidance in the skills required in taking professional photographs and beyond.

  1. Setting up a simple home photography studio

    Ever wondered how to set up a simple home photography studio? On this short course you will learn key tips and what you will need to buy, so you can take better photographs on your camera or smart phone of items such as jewellery or small products, for Instagram or your website. This is a live online course. You will need:



    - A stable internet connection. The classes work best with the Chrome web browser.



    - A computer with a speaker (or headphones) microphone and camera (e.g. a PC/laptop/iMac/MacBook), or a tablet.

  2. Writing and photography: online workshop

    Whether you are a photographer or a writer this short course will give you ideas for combining words and images and offer an opportunity to share insights, to discover new approaches and create new work.

  3. City Lit Photography projects

    Delve deep into the world photography with a selection of creative and fundamental projects that will support you in learning both traditional and digital techniques. Get to grips with your camera as you develop knowledge and practical experience within photography, exploring various contexts and the background of its many genres. Try out and develop new skills in industry software and gain the confidence and skills required to plan, shoot and edit your own photography project.     Learn about photographic studio practice and lighting. An introduction to using studio flash, 'hot' (tungsten) and ‘cold’ (fluorescent & LED) lights to enhance your portrait and still life photography.
