City Lit is one of a few adult education centres that run Basketry courses. Many of our tutors have their own studios and share their technical skills and creative processes that positively impact students learning. We run our flagship two-year course aimed at students who wish to advance their craft. Many of our alumni have gone on to forge new careers as makers in their own right.
Our courses focus on specific methods and materials such as Willow, working with Rush, and Burkina Faso Basketry methods.

Further Rush basketryThis course is a deeper exploration for students who have some previous experience in rush basketry. You will be shown techniques to use with rush and other materials to make non-traditional rush baskets.
