Computing for Deaf People
City Lit offer computing classes at different levels for deaf people, from beginners to European Computer Driving Licence (ECDL) level 2. Our tutors will help you find the right course to meet your needs. Classes are taught in BSL.
For deaf computing courses you will need to come to an initial assessment session to make sure you find the right class. Please contact us by SMS text on 07642818557 or email deafskills@citylit.ac.uk to make an appointment.
In order to join our deaf computing courses, you need to have an interview and initial assessment first.

- English and Maths for deaf people: Getting started with English and Maths (pre-entry) - part 1Course start date: Mon 8 Sep 2025

This course is suitable if you have arrived in the UK from abroad and/or missed out on the education at school due to communication barriers. On this course, you will learn more vocabulary of English words and use them in reading and writing basic sentences. You will also will work with basic numbers, measures, shapes and use of data. It is a very practical course and the skills you learn can be applied to your every day life contexts. You will be introduced to google classroom basic functions. This course has no exams.
