Are you unsure when to use present perfect or past perfect? Do people find it difficult to understand you because of your grammar mistakes? Do you want to express yourself with more confidence? Good grammar is essential for good communication. These Grammar in Practice courses will help you say and write what you mean.
What is the best course for me?

Times:
- Every Monday 12- 2pm
- Every Wednesday 6-8pm
- Every Friday 11am-1pm (23rd August – 6th October)
The courses are FREE to most learners if you earn less than £21, 547.50 a year or are on JSA or ESA (WRAG). They are either in the City Lit building or live online interactive classes. For online courses, you will need a computer with a microphone, a camera and the internet.

This course will help you understand that grammar is not just about rules-it's about meaning. You'll learn to interpret others more accurately and express yourself more clearly and effectively.

Are you looking to develop your expressive range and make your writing more impactful? This course will help you refine your writing by focusing on meaning, precision, and style-going beyond accuracy to explore how language choices shape your message and influence your reader.
You will learn how grammar can be used creatively to express different shades of meaning, expand your vocabulary to say more with fewer words, and develop strategies to make your writing more persuasive, engaging, and memorable.
You may join this course during term 2.

Do you need help with your grammar? Do you want to understand verb tenses and ask questions with good pronunciation and correct grammar? This course will teach you the essential grammar you need to speak and write well. You will focus on when to use present simple, present continuous, and past simple. You will practise asking and answering questions using words like do, does, is, are, and did correctly and clearly. By the end of the course, you will have a strong foundation for your English learning.
