Our Performing Arts Studios & Equipment in London

Join us at our vibrant Covent Garden campus, an inspiring hub designed to support your learning with modern facilities and state-of-the-art equipment. 

Our facilities in music include: two suites of digital pianos with fully weighted keys, Yamaha pianos and Steinway concert grands for our piano workshops. We also provide microphones, amplifiers, speakers and drumkit for jazz and pop courses. Our dance classes are taught in bright modern studios with sprung flooring, barres and mirrors.

The John Lyon's Theatre accommodates our popular accredited acting courses, City Lit Theatre Company, technical theatre and stage management, and many other acting and music courses and performances.

    Fretted instruments ensemble

    An ensemble class for players of any fretted instrument: guitar, banjo, ukulele, mandolin, bass guitar or any other! There will be individual parts for each player suited to their abilities; together we will play all sorts of music. This course is for experienced players, the ability to read one of the following will be necessary: chord symbols, tablature or musical notation. Challenging and fun - the music/repertoire will be tailored to your various abilities.

    This established ensemble sings original arrangements of jazz and popular songs. Develop your listening, timing, intonation, musical memory, and team work.     Learn the essentials of playing the ukulele on this introductory course. You’ll learn complete songs from the first week. Strumming patterns will be taught and applied to various songs. By the end of term you should be able to accompany your own singing or play along to recordings.

    Jazz harmony and ear training 1A
    We will study time, form, root movement and harmonic progression, chord types, intervals, scales and modes. Learn transcribed solos and participate in playing sessions. For players with a working knowledge of harmony and instrumental proficiency beyond grade 5. Please contact music@citylit.ac.uk to arrange to be assessed for entry to this course.
