Music auditions and advice

Do you need help choosing a course at the right level?

Are you unsure which course to choose?

Do you need to audition for your course? If your course has a star (*) next to the code or says "Yes" to 'Do I need an interview before I enrol?' you need to contact the Music department before enrolling to make sure the level is right for you. You may need to attend an informal interview/audition.

If coming to our advice sessions, please have something prepared to play or sing, bring sheet music and your instrument (if applicable).

During term-time there are two weekly drop-in advice sessions per week:

  • Monday evenings from September 17th, 6pm-7pm room 209 - Classical singing and instrumental courses, music history and music theory (Trish Shaw / Edward Breen)
  • Saturday mornings from September 29th, 11am-12pm room 209 - Jazz, rock, pop, soul, guitar, flute and musicianship courses (Della Rhodes)

** Please note there is no advice session on Monday November 5th **

Music Auditions and Advice (and many taster courses) will also be available on December 13th (evening) and 14th (afternoon) at the City Lit Open Days. Please do pop in and meet us at this time if you are available.

During the rest of December, advice will be by phone/email, or by appointment. Please contact the Music department: music@citylit.ac.uk  or  (020) 7492 2630
