Tutor Development Programme

The Tutor Development team offers free training and support to City Lit tutors on an ongoing basis.

The programme is diverse in nature and format and focuses on: tutors' digital skills, pedagogical approaches and skills, and wellbeing. The programme is responsive to tutors' interests and needs.

We also run regular sharing practice events 'By Tutors for Tutors', Tutors' Helpline, Level 3 Award in Education and Training (City & Guilds 6502) and Train the Trainer courses.

Our current programme focuses on short online sessions - see our Bitesize Training Programme. You will find the access code for booking sessions in the recent email sent by the Tutor Development team.

If you have any questions or suggestions about the training programme, please email: Tutor.Development@citylit.ac.uk

The Tutor Toolkit

This is an online training module designed for you if you are new to teaching, or you are an experienced tutor or would just like to update yourself about aspects of learning and teaching.

It covers the basics of teaching and has 9 short units, with activities and/or quizzes to complete throughout. It should take 3 – 4 hours to complete if you work through the whole course (though we would advise you to do it in sections).

Please click here to go to the Tutor Toolkit to find out more or to start the module.

The course is self assessed. However, if you would like a certificate, please contact tutor.development@citylit.ac.uk. We will ask you to submit a lesson plan and meet with you to discuss your session.
