What is the course about?

Data analysis is particularly useful in all public, private and non-profit organisations where key data and conclusions can give managers an enhanced competitive advantage to set and achieve tactical and operational strategic goals.

This course will teach you how to turn large data sets into meaningful conclusions and recommendations.

Participants who will attend the full course will receive a City Lit certificate of attendance electronically for their CV or CPD records. The certificate will show your name, course title and dates of the course you have attended.

What will we cover?

The course will be split into a mix of revising some intermediate/advanced excel skills that data analysts would need to demonstrate, before applying these to different data sets. There will be a mixture between learning and then directly applying these skills with a range of exercises.

The last part of the final session will be a chance to bring in your own problem or a chance to work through a scenario and data commentary and presentation to add meaning and insight. Skills directly relevant to many different jobs.

Key topics:
1. Sort and filter data
2. Conditional formatting
3. Charts/ text boxes
4. Pivot tables
5. Common pitfalls
6. “Telling the Story”- how to then give people tailored information to make accurate conclusions
7. How to present information for managers and meetings- and to sense check information for perspective and clarity.

What will I achieve?
By the end of this course you should be able to...
