Please note that this course takes place on alternate weeks. Consolidate your elementary or lower intermediate level of Italian in this interactive class. Further practise the main topics and grammar points learned at level 2 through some speaking and listening activities. Suitable if you are attending a level 2 lower or 2 upper class, or have an equivalent level of the language.

What is the course about?

This course will enable you to practise and consolidate some vocabulary and grammar structures learned at elementary and lower intermediate level through a variety of speaking and listening activities.

This is a live online course. You will need:
- Internet connection. The classes work best with Chrome.
- A computer with microphone and camera is best (e.g. a PC/laptop/iMac/MacBook), or a tablet/iPad/smart phone/iPhone if you don't have a computer.
- Earphones/headphones/speakers.
We will contact you with joining instructions before your course starts.

What will we cover?

Topics will include: talking about daily routine, leisure activities and past holidays

Grammar will include: present and past tenses; reflexive verbs.

What will I achieve?
By the end of this course you should be able to...

- talk about leisure activities using the present tense

- talk about daily routine using reflexive verbs

- talk about past holidays using the passato prossimo.

What level is the course and do I need any particular skills?

This course is aimed at students who have studied the language for one to two years recently or who have an equivalent level of the language.

How will I be taught, and will there be any work outside the class?

The course is based on the communicative approach:

- active students’ interaction
- emphasis on speaking and listening skills
- pair and group work
- role plays
- use of realia, pictures and authentic material
- use of audio-visual techniques when appropriate

Please note, students are expected to participate in oral classroom activities and to do some homework as and when required.

Tutor Biographies
Anna Giuffria

Anna was drawn to London in her adolescence, by her love of English language and culture. She received a TEFL (Teaching English as a Foreign Language) and Modern Languages Teaching Certificate from Westminster College in 1996 and her Postgraduate diploma in Higher Education from Goldsmith University, in 1999. In 1997, she started teaching Italian at the London College of Fashion and Central Saint Martin, before moving to the London School of Economics, in 1999, where she is still working as a teacher and as a coordinator of Italian language. She started teaching adults at the City Lit in 1998, where she began to appreciate working with a wide range of students of various ages and backgrounds. She enjoys the social aspect and human contact of education, always reflected in her approach to teaching. In her classes she encourages interaction among students, which is the foundation of learning a language as she has experienced, whilst learning French a Spanish. Anna also taught Italian at the Courtauld Institute of Art between 2009 and 2019.
