This course is a revision and consolidation course to enable you to join a level 4 or 5 course. You will refresh your existing Spanish, build your confidence back and revisit elements of language and grammar that you need to revise.
What will we cover?
In this course, you will work on authentic materials related to Current affairs, society, culture and culture and you will review complex grammar structures that you will have learned in the past but need to remember and practice. The emphasis will be on speaking and listening, but some written homework will be given as well.
The contents of the course will be based on the needs of the group. The first session will consist of a diagnostic session, where the tutor will informally assess the group's level through conversation, reading and listening comprehension, which will then shape the programme of the subsequent sessions.
What will I achieve? By the end of this course you should be able to...
- express yourself more accurately - read newspaper articles and short stories with confidence - understand authentic audio/video materials with more confidence - take part in discussions and debates on various aspects of Spanish-speaking culture
Please note that the learning outcomes may vary depending on the general progress made by the students.

I teach Spanish and Italian at City Lit and bring my enthusiasm for languages to every class. I have a PhD in Comparative Literature from Queen Mary University of London, an MSc in Applied Linguistics for Language Teaching from the University of Oxford, and I’m a Fellow of the Higher Education Academy. As a speaker of Spanish, Italian, English, and French, I understand how mixing and connecting languages can make learning more natural – a concept called translanguaging that I use to help you feel confident from day one. My classes are collaborative spaces where everyone builds confidence through real conversation and practical skills. Whether you’re here to travel, study, work, or simply enjoy learning something new, you’ll find a welcoming group that embraces mistakes as part of the journey.

My name is Montse and I am from Seville in the South of Spain. I have a Masters Degree in Bilingual Translation from the University of Westminster and I have worked as an interpreter and translator in both the public and private sector. I qualified as a Spanish Teacher and DELE Examiner with the Cervantes Institute and University of Roehampton, and I have been teaching Spanish full-time since 2016. The thing I love most about teaching is seeing my students progress and gain confidence.
Please note: We reserve the right to change our tutors from those advertised. This happens rarely, but if it does, we are unable to refund fees due to this. Our tutors may have different teaching styles; however we guarantee a consistent quality of teaching in all our courses.
