What is the course about?

Scottish Gaelic is a fascinating and distinctive part of Scotland’s cultural heritage. Once widely spoken across the Highlands and Islands, it carries centuries of history, tradition, and storytelling. Though the number of speakers declined over time, recent years have seen a growing interest in the language, with more people learning it through schools, media, and community initiatives. Gaelic offers a unique way to connect with Scotland’s landscapes, music, and folklore—its sounds and expressions often reflect the natural world in poetic and vivid ways. Whether you're curious about its melodic rhythms or intrigued by its deep roots in Scottish identity, Gaelic opens a window into a rich and resilient culture. It’s not just about preserving the past—it’s about keeping a living language alive and relevant today. Exploring Gaelic can be a rewarding journey for anyone interested in language, history, or the culture of Scotland.
