Do you want to improve your communication skills and become more confident speaking, listening, reading and writing English? This course will help you develop all your English language skills so you can act confidently in the most important everyday situations inside and outside work. You will become a skilled communicator when writing, using digital resources and in face-to-face interactions. You will develop your active listening skills so you can understand and empathise better. You will work on how to express yourself when speaking in different situations. You will practise your reading so you can see the whole picture and find details, make effective decisions about what you read, and prioritise matters. By the end of this three-term programme, you will be a competent speaker, listener, reader and writer both at work and home and ready to do exams such as Functional Skills Level 2.

Are you excited by the language of Maths? Do you want to understand how numbers, symbols and formulas enable us to identify and solve problems as well as find patterns and structure in the world. This course will extend your analytical and problem-solving skills and help you develop logic to plan and manage activities. A Maths GCSE is one of the most commonly required qualifications by employers and universities and by achieving it you will enhance your job and education prospects. Tutors: Katie GossOver six weeks, this Ciné Club will dive into the singular, unsettling world of David Cronenberg - one of modern cinema’s most provocative and visionary directors.
We will explore Cronenberg’s evolution from early body horror classics to his later psychological thrillers, questioning what his work reveals about human nature and our ever-evolving relationship with the body, technology and culture.
Each session will feature a screening of a key film from his filmography, followed by an in-depth discussion examining its central themes, cinematic techniques, cultural and cinematic impact. From the merging of flesh and technoscientific apparatus, to the themes of obsession and transgression, we will see how Cronenberg’s cinema helps us explore the complexities and obscurities of modern life.
