What is the course about?

This course develops the work done in Presenting on the Spot, while also being an entire course in itself. You will gain greater credibility through confidently achieving a public presentation in any given scenario with very little time to prepare.

What will we cover?

Breathing exercises and vocal technique
Using physiology to create congruence with your message
Understanding the importance of rapport with your audience
Structuring a presentation for best results
Using storytelling as a well to develop rapport with your audience
Dealing with questions and answers
Dealing with a difficult crowd.

What will I achieve?
By the end of this course you should be able to...

Give a five minute presentation with very little preparation time with gravitas, credibility and an authentic style and tone.
Deal with questions and answers.
Deal with saboteurs.

What level is the course and do I need any particular skills?

This is an advanced course and most suitable for those who have attended Presenting on the Spot/ Public Speaking or who have some professional experience speaking with little or no preparation.

How will I be taught, and will there be any work outside the class?

The course will be delivered in the college and comprise exercises and information on presentation tips and techniques. It will give attendees the opportunity to present either with their chosen theme or a suggested one and give the opportunity for feedback and evaluation.

As part of the course content, your tutor may record your image for initial and ongoing assessment purposes. You are entitled to decline to participate in the recording of your image.

Are there any other costs? Is there anything I need to bring?

Please bring a notebook and pen.

Stephanie Lunn

Stephanie Lunn is a Chartered Fellow of the Chartered Institute of Personnel Development, and has an MSc in Strategic HR from University of Hull and a Postgraduate Certificate in Coaching form Birkbeck. She was a UK and Global HR Director and Business Partner in media and professional services companies, including Fleishman-Hillard, Agency.Com; Yahoo!, Cake and MPC before founding BluJacket Human Resources Consultancy. She has been teaching presentation skills at City Lit for many years, returning in 2016 after a break to bring up her daughter.
