What is the course about?
Continue learning to translate the Bible from Hebrew with confidence, understanding what translations are unable to convey.
Please note that there will be no classes on 27/09/2022; 04/10/2022;11/10/2022;18/10/2022 as these dates will mark Jewish festivals.
This is a live online course. You will need:
- Internet connection. The classes work best with Chrome.
- A computer with microphone and camera is best (e.g. a PC/laptop/iMac/MacBook), or a tablet/iPad/smart phone/iPhone if you don't have a computer.
- Earphones/headphones/speakers.
We will contact you with joining instructions before your course starts.
What will we cover?
We will read Gen.6-9: Noah. We will also revise verb forms already learned and learn Object suffixes, Niphal, Hitpael.
What will I achieve?
By the end of this course you should be able to...
- translate more verb forms
- translate biblical verses with more confidence.
What level is the course and do I need any particular skills?
This is an intermediate course and requires Biblical Hebrew 1 and 2 or equivalent (1-2 years of study). As this course is taught in English, please read the outline carefully to decide if you may benefit from support with your English skills to help you take part fully in this class.
How will I be taught, and will there be any work outside the class?
Students will be expected to read and translate in class, to do some exercises during the week and to learn
vocabulary each week.
Are there any other costs? Is there anything I need to bring?
You will need to bring the textbook each week: The First Hebrew Primer Third Edition: The Adult Beginners Path to Biblical Hebrew by Simon Resnikoff and Motzkin, published by EKS, California. This can be purchased from John Trotter at Manor House Books www.manorhousebooks.co.uk for £39.50, and also from Amazon and other online sellers.
