George Orwell's, Animal Farm, Directed by Vernon Thompson

City Lit Theatre Company are back in the John Lyon's theatre with a new production Animal Farm.

George Orwell’s important and impactful novella is as relevant now as when it was written in 1943. Subtitled a ‘fairy story’ it tells the tale of farmyard animals rising up against the cruelty of humanity, apparently the superior animal. But behind the talking pigs and horses lies a satire on the perils of totalitarianism in which ‘some are more equal than others’.

This dramatization by Ian Wooldridge sticks closely to the book and allows a new generation to access a work approaching its 80th anniversary but just as urgent as ever, in the year we witnessed the Capitol Hill attack. Vernon Thompson directs an ensemble of actors in a show featuring songs and music.
