Looking to be part of an exciting performance and get a taste of what it is like to be on the stage? The City Lit Theatre Company are holding auditions for Vernon Thompson’s production of Jack Thorne’s After Life. This wonderful play was performed at the National Theatre back in 2021.
Auditions will begin on 15th October 2023 and rehearsals will start on Monday 30th October 2023. It’s a wonderful opportunity to be part of a theatre company working alongside an experienced professional director and a team of technical theatre students to stage a full-length play from scratch in six weeks.

Rehearsal dates
The first rehearsal will be Monday 30th October.
Rehearsals will take place weekly on Monday and Friday evenings 18.15 - 21:15, and on Sundays 10:30 - 16:00.
You will be recquired to be at each rehearsal on time and thus demonstrate professional discipline.
Production dates
Production week is from Sunday 3rd December. You need to be available each evening, Monday to Friday and all day Saturday (for Saturday Matinee and eve performance) in the week of Monday 4th to Saturday 9th December 2023.
Performances 7th -9th December.
Learning objectives
Your learning objectives as part of the City Lit Theatre Company will include:
- Engaging effectively with the process and structure, from first rehearsal to performance.
- Developing character within this process, contributing to a coherent production.
- Demonstrating the director’s concept through practical application of rehearsal work.
- Interacting appropriately and in a professional manner with the director, technical manager and stage management team.

The City Lit Theatre Company is proud to present a production of Spirits Within, adapted by director Danielle Allan from Federico Garcia Lorca’s The House of Bernarda Alba.
Professionally trained Heather Page will play the role of Bernarda in the two performances which will take place at 4pm and 7pm on Thursday 3rd August 2023. The show includes no fewer than 23 actors, many of whom will sing in Spanish and dance Flamenco in a summery, holiday style production.
