City Lit have made the difficult decision to cancel Deaf Day on 18 April.  We have taken this decision with the health and wellbeing of our community in mind given the volume of attendees at this amazing day and in light of the current Covid-19 status. We realise that this will be disappointing, however, we hope that you understand why we have taken this decision.

We will continue to monitor the situation over the coming months and may look to host a similar event later in the year.  If we do, we will, of course, be back in touch.

Deaf Day at City Lit

Discover the Centre for Deaf Education at City Lit

City Lit has provided support for deaf people at its heart right from our establishment, in 1919. Some of the first courses ever offered by City Lit were lipreading classes for deafened soldiers returning from World War I. Over the years, we have grown to become an internationally-renowned centre of a wide range of provision - it is the largest centre of its kind in Europe. Our staff is a mixed group of deaf and hearing professionals; all highly skilled in their own areas of specialist expertise.
