What is the course about?

Have fun exploring Shakespeare’s language, rehearsing key moments from two plays, and working collaboratively to bring scenes to life.

What will we cover?

• Verse speaking & Shakespeare’s use of language
• Characterisation
• Scene rehearsal.

What will I achieve?
By the end of this course you should be able to...

• Tackle heightened language with confidence
• Analyse a scene for clues to performance
• Rehearse a scene
• Give a work-in-progress performance in class.

What level is the course and do I need any particular skills?

This is a practical class for students with some prior experience of acting.

How will I be taught, and will there be any work outside the class?

In pairs, groups and individually. There will not be work outside the class, unless you wish to familiarise yourself with the two plays beforehand.

Are there any other costs? Is there anything I need to bring?

You will be provided with a copy of the scenes. You may wish to purchase a copy of the plays and read them in advance but this is not required. Wear comfortable clothing that you can work freely in.

When I've finished, what course can I do next?

Classical acting, or one of our longer scene work classes.
