What is the course about?
The course aims at furthering students’ knowledge of grammatical structures and vocabulary so that they can continue reading adapted and simple unadapted prose in Ancient Greek.
What will we cover?
We will be studying in detail the uses and functions of some of the cases. We will also examine the more tenses and moods. Details of the resources used in this course and the starting point can be found on this page.
What will I achieve?
By the end of this course you should be able to...
- demonstrate knowledge of the special uses and functions of the cases learnt
- build and translate different types of conditional sentences
- analyse and translate verb tenses and moods, and their functions within sentences.
What level is the course and do I need any particular skills?
You should have attended Ancient Greek 3: module 1, or have an equivalent knowledge (approximately 3 years of study). As the course is taught in English, please read the outline carefully to decide if you may benefit from support with your English skills to help you take part fully in this class.
How will I be taught, and will there be any work outside the class?
The course consists of grammar instructions, grammar exercises and translation with a high level of student interaction (individual, pair and group work). Students are expected to do the homework regularly, check the material uploaded on Google Classroom and participate in oral classroom activities. Homework will require approx. 1-2 hours per week.
