What is the course about?

Adobe Photoshop and Lightroom are moving into the use of Artificial Intelligence tools. With todays growing demand on photographic editing, a blend of AI retouching methods are needed in the commercial world. This course will unveil the extensive array of new tools in Photoshop and Lightroom. These new tools can be used to increase productivity and streamline your workflow.

What will we cover?

- Facial and skin retouching with AI
- Changing hair colour using AI
- Changing clothing colours with AI
- Non-destructive retouching of skin and other image elements at the Raw file stage.

What will I achieve?
By the end of this course you should be able to...

- Confidently use the AI tools in Photoshop and Lightroom
- Retouch skin at the Raw file stage
- Generate selection masks both in Raw and JPEG files using AI tools
- Make adjustments to image colour, texture, tone and contrast.
- Confidently implement the above into your workflow.

What level is the course and do I need any particular skills?

This is an introduction to Adobe AI image editing tools but it is not a beginners course in Photoshop and Lightroom. You will benefit most from the course if you have some experience of retouching and file handling.

How will I be taught, and will there be any work outside the class?

This is a practical workshop. You will be taught with tutor demonstrations with lots of time for practice and individual and group support.
Please note the City Lit uses Apple Mac computers in the Photography studio. The course also uses Google Classroom (an online teaching resource) for you to share comments with your class, download course material and upload images (as appropriate) for group crits. See below for the instructions on how to log on.

Are there any other costs? Is there anything I need to bring?

It would be useful to bring a memory stick (or portable hard drive – please note: PC formatted hard drives can be read by Apple mac computers, but not written to.)
You will be supplied with an Apple Mac computer but are welcome to bring your own computer if it has the latest version of Adobe Photoshop and Lightroom pre-installed. Your tutor may require you to do the first exercise on a City Lit computer to ensure everyone is able to start and there will be limited time for troubleshooting personal computers
