What is the course about?

You will consolidate your knowledge of grammar and vocabulary and will work towards achieving greater fluency.
The tutor may adjust the teaching content according to students’ progress.

What will we cover?

Topics: Chinese cultures and traditions. Students will have the chance to do some writing and presentation tasks.

What will I achieve?
By the end of this course you should be able to...

- Improve your speaking, writing and reading skills
- Improved your vocabulary.

What level is the course and do I need any particular skills?

Students should have completed Chinese 4: module 2, or studied Chinese for approximately 5 years recently or have developed an equivalent competence in the language. You will also need to be able to respond to simple instructions and read course documents in English and be at ease with the use of numbers for daily activities. It is also essential that you have knowledge of more complex grammar terminology.

How will I be taught, and will there be any work outside the class?

The course is based on the communicative approach:
active student participation
emphasis on speaking and listening skills
pair and group work
role plays
use of realia, pictures and authentic material
use of audio-visual techniques when appropriate.

If a book is needed, your tutor will advise. Please note that not everything from the book will be covered as the tutor might complement with own material.
