What level is the course and do I need any particular skills?
This is a beginner filmmaker's course, so previous knowledge of the filmmaking process is not essential. However, an intermediate level of computer literacy is desirable as all resources will be available via Google Classroom, and you will also be learning how to use Adobe Premiere editing software. If you have your own camera, e.g. DSLR and photography skills, that would also be an advantage.
How will I be taught, and will there be any work outside the class?
You will be taught using a range of techniques including workshops, short lectures, demonstrations, practical exercises, group and individual advice and guidance as well as hand-outs. You will be expected to work individually and (safely) in groups. We use Google Classroom E-learning platform which will store all tasks, notes and resources. You will be sent an email with the necessary information and will need to login into your Google classroom before each sessions starts.
Are there any other costs? Is there anything I need to bring?
The latest professional software and equipment are available for you to use in class throughout the course. It would be useful to have a memory stick or portable hard drive to store your work.
When I've finished, what course can I do next?
You can develop your skills further in Narrative film making, Experimental film making and a range of editing courses for all levevels. You can also develop skills in compositing through our Start filming and compositing with green screen course.
