What is the course about?

Learn how to sketch jewellery, draw designs from different angles and add colour, shading and highlights. Learn to make a simple plan drawing (technical drawing), showing your design from the top, front and side view.

What will we cover?

Look at suitable drawing tools and materials. Practice sketching shapes and forms before moving on to drawing jewellery from reference. Look at plenty of examples of jewellery illustration, technical drawings and sketchbook styles. Make final drawings or sketches in your chosen style.

What will I achieve?
By the end of this course you should be able to...

• Identify suitable drawing materials
• Identify different types of drawing for jewellery
• Sketch jewellery from different viewpoints and angles
• Add colour, shading and highlights
• Make a plan drawing and add technical specifications.

What level is the course and do I need any particular skills?

The course is for beginners and those with some drawing experience who want to gain more confidence.

How will I be taught, and will there be any work outside the class?

The exercises will be step by step. Each step will be demonstrated before you practice and there will be plenty of 1:1 support.

Are there any other costs? Is there anything I need to bring?

Bring a mechanical pencil and a sketchbook (A4 or larger) and any other drawing materials you’d like to use such as colour pencils, watercolour paint, ink, fine-liners, paint brushes, …
