What is the course about?

This course will help you develop your advanced communication skills in Dutch.You will learn more complex vocabulary and expressions to improve your communication skills in discussing a variety of more advanced topics.

This is a live online course. You will need:
- Internet connection. The classes work best with Chrome.
- A computer with microphone and camera is best (e.g. a PC/laptop/iMac/MacBook), or a tablet/iPad/smart phone/iPhone if you don't have a computer.
- Earphones/headphones/speakers.
We will contact you with joining instructions before your course starts.

What will we cover?

Topics will include talking about the environment, the great outdoors and current affairs in Dutch speaking countries.If there is interest, we might read excerpts from a novel.

What will I achieve?
By the end of this course you should be able to...

- give and ask for advice
- have an in-depth discussion on contemporary topics
- formulate your opinion in writing
- describe landscapes and surroundings
- be fluent in telling an anecdote.

What level is the course and do I need any particular skills?

The course is aimed at people who have successfully completed a three-year Dutch course, or have equivalent advanced experience of the language. For further details of the specific foreign language skills required for this level, please

You will also need to be able to respond to instructions and explanations, as well as read course
documents. You will need to be at ease with a informal conversation in Dutch where you give and ask information or e.g. talk about something on the news. It is also expected to have an understanding of the basic grammar such as present, past and future tense and word order.

How will I be taught, and will there be any work outside the class?

Our courses are characterised by spoken interaction and communication. Typical activities include pair work,
group work, role plays and games. A range of resources will be used to support your learning including presentations, hand-outs, and audio-visual material.
Homework is highly recommended to consolidate learning.

Are there any other costs? Is there anything I need to bring?

Based on tutor's own materials. There might be a book. To be advised by the tutor at the beginning of the course.
