What is the course about?
This course in Dynamic Assisted Stretching has been designed to offer a stretching routine and sequence that can be integrated within a massage routine on the massage couch.
It will introduce the practitioners to a variety of stretching methods as well as gentle mobilisation techniques to release muscle tension.
It will combine different methods of stretching including, passive, dynamic and isometric stretching as well as gentle manipulations to the joints to provide a unique form of treatment.
What will we cover?
- Introduction to the theory and application of stretching for the main muscle groups
- Understand the benefits of stretching
- The contraindications to stretching muscles and tissue
- Theory relating to passive, dynamic and isometric stretching
- Introduction to stretching techniques for the main muscle groups
- Use and importance of posture, breath, counting and communication.
What will I achieve?
By the end of this course you should be able to...
- Explain the principles of stretching
- Carry out considerate towel management to keep client’s modesty
- Apply safe and effective stretching techniques to treat a variety of muscle groups and areas of the body.
What level is the course and do I need any particular skills?
Post Graduate/CPD. You will need to have completed a Level 3 qualification in massage (including anatomy and physiology). You will also need to have sufficient literacy, numeracy and ICT skills, to Level 2 or equivalent.
How will I be taught, and will there be any work outside the class?
Presentation, practical demonstration, pair work, small and large group work, practical work, and home practice. This is a two day CPD course.
Are there any other costs? Is there anything I need to bring?
There is no other cost.
