Do you know many English words but find it hard to write a paragraph in complete sentences? If so, this course is for you. It will help you learn how to write complete sentences with the correct word order, grammar, tense, and punctuation. By the end of the course, you will be able to talk and write about yourself, interests and your family. This course has no exams.

What will we cover?

During the course, you will cover the following topics and skills:

- Understanding sentence structure
- Using the correct word order (Subject-verb agreement)
- Using the correct tense (Present/Past/Future Simple)
- Avoiding common mistakes in spelling
- Using capitals, full stops, commas and question marks correctly
- Writing about your daily routine, interests, likes/dislikes and your family in short paragraphs
- Understanding and following simple instructions
- Study key skills and guided practice activities.

What will I achieve?
By the end of this course you should be able to...

- Use the correct word order, focusing on subject-verb agreement
- Use Present, Past, and Future Simple tenses accurately in writing
- Avoid common spelling mistakes and use punctuation marks, including capitals, full stops, commas, and question marks, correctly
- Write short paragraphs about daily routines, personal interests, likes/dislikes, and family life
- Understand and respond to simple instructions effectively
- Engage in guided practice activities to strengthen key skills in reading, writing, and comprehension.

What level is the course and do I need any particular skills?

How will I be taught, and will there be any work outside the class?

You will be taught in a deaf-only group with a tutor that is fluent in British Sign Language. Teaching will be in a supportive group setting, which involves pair and small group work. The interactive whiteboard and google classroom will also help your learning. Handouts and worksheets will allow you to build up a folder of work. You will be given homework on a regular basis and an opportunity for one to one tutorials with your tutor to discuss any individual learning needs that you have.

Are there any other costs? Is there anything I need to bring?

It is recommended that you bring: appropriate stationary (e.g. pens, highlighter pens etc); a notebook; a file to keep your work in.

When I've finished, what course can I do next?

In order to complete this course successfully, you will be asked to do different tasks and tests. Also, your attendance and punctuality is expected to be at 85% or above. At the end of this course, your course tutor will review your overall learning progress including your attendance/punctuality and will advise you on what courses you can do next.
