This course will help you talk, read and write about more interesting subjects and make fewer mistakes so people can understand you, you can understand them and you can read and write important messages, emails, forms and news stories. You will improve your vocabulary, grammar and pronunciation. By the end of this three-term programme you will able to interact confidently with English speakers in your daily life. You can join the course at any time.

What is the course about?

This course which will help your English for everyday life and work. You will develop your speaking, listening, reading, writing. You will practise asking and answering questions using present simple, present continuous, past simple and future forms. You will talk and write about everyday life in the present, past, future and in general. You will practise describing and comparing objects and pictures. You will also practise listening for details in short conversations and recordings about everyday topics. You will practise writing short emails or letters formal and informal. You will improve your use of capital letters, full stops, question marks and commas. You will work on your spelling of everyday words. You will also practise completing simple forms. You will read different types of texts and
practise finding information and details, and understanding their general meaning.

What will we cover?

We will work on topics and tasks that help you become an active citizen so you can participate in social life, make progress at work and express yourself. We will focus on a life in the UK, daily routines, healthy living, jobs,
shopping, transport, different cultures and news stories. You will practise reading, writing and speaking and listening. You will develop the following language:
• asking and answering everyday questions using present simple, present continuous, past simple and future
forms
• talking and writing about everyday topics using present simple, present continuous, past simple and future
forms
• describing and comparing objects and pictures
• listening for details in short conversations and recordings about everyday topics
• writing short emails or letters on everyday topics
• the use of capital letters, full stops, question marks and commas
• spelling of everyday words
• completing simple forms
• finding information and details in short texts and understanding their general meaning.

What will I achieve?
By the end of this course you should be able to...

• use your English to do everyday tasks such as shopping, travelling, talking to friends and work colleagues about interesting topics
• ask and answer everyday questions using present simple, present continuous, past simple and future forms
• talk and write about everyday topics using present simple, present continuous, past simple and future forms
• describe and compare objects and pictures
• listen for details in short conversations and recordings about everyday topics
• write short emails or letters on everyday topics both formally and informally
• use capital letters, full stops, question marks and commas accurately in short texts
• spell common everyday words correctly
• complete simple forms
• find information quickly in read short simple texts and understand their general meaning.

What level is the course and do I need any particular skills?

This is an Entry 2 elementary course (A2). This course is good for you if you can already ask and answer some
questions on personal information, follow simple instructions, and read and write short paragraphs about everyday topics.

How will I be taught, and will there be any work outside the class?

You will learn in a supportive and welcoming environment. The tutor will help you discover rules and features of English. You will work on your own and with other students on different tasks so you are always practising important in-demand life and work skills such as problem-solving, decision-making, prioritising, negotiating, collaborating and independence. You will learn in a step by step manner so you can complete challenging tasks in enjoyable and relaxing ways. Your tutor will also work with you individually so you know how to improve and how to work in a way that improves your learning. You will need to do work outside the classroom and use Google Classroom to help you.

Are there any other costs? Is there anything I need to bring?

You will need a pen, some lined A4 paper and a file to keep your work in. Your tutor will provide handouts and a code for Google classroom so you can communicate with classmates and access materials, videos etc. online.

When I've finished, what course can I do next?

This course is part of a three part programme. You will normally complete the whole three terms. However, there are other courses you can do at the same time or after this course. These include:
