What is the course about?
On this challenging and fast paced course, you will build upon your existing knowledge and expand your experimental techniques further.
You will experiment not only with different visual forms but also with sound and animation.
Please note that the editing software taught on this course will be Premiere Pro. If you prefer you are welcome to use Final Cut or DaVinci Resolve which, though not taught, will be supported in the course.

- Experimental filmmaking within a fine art context
- Expanded audio-visual techniques (eg: animation, green screen and video installations)
- Development of your personal project
- Expanded editing in Premiere Pro
- Presenting your project online.

What level is the course and do I need any particular skills?
This is designed as a progression course from a previous beginners experimental film course or beginners moving image module from a fine art course. Passion for art is required as well as basic computer experience including, using a keyboard and mouse, opening applications, saving and retrieving files.
You should be able to follow simple written and verbal instructions to support demonstrations, hand-outs and for health and safety information, and will be invited to take part in group discussion. You should be able to use numbers and be able to do simple measurements and calculations.
How will I be taught, and will there be any work outside the class?
You will experience a range of teaching styles to match your learning, including Demos, short lectures, individual and group assistance, peer feedback and course notes.
We use Google Classroom E-learning platform which will store all tasks, notes and resources. You will be sent an email with the necessary information and will need to login into your Google classroom before each sessions starts.
Are there any other costs? Is there anything I need to bring?
Our high definition cameras and the latest professional equipment and software are available for your use throughout
the course. It would be useful to bring a memory stick (or portable hard drive – please note PC formatted hard drives
can be read by Apple mac computers, but not written to.).
When I've finished, what course can I do next?

Monika Kita is an artist and filmmaker. Video installation, sound and photography form her practice and works have been shown at festivals and exhibitions across the UK, Europe, and South America, including Museum of Contemporary Art of Oaxaca, BBC Shorts, East End Film Festival and Venice Biennale. Teaching is an integral part of her practice. Her flexible approach encourages connection between conception, making and materials, recognising spontaneity and liberation to be at the ‘beating heart’ of practice and pedagogy.
