This is a live online course. You will need:

- A computer with microphone and camera is best (e.g. a PC/laptop/iMac/MacBook), or a tablet/iPad/smart phone/iPhone if you don't have a computer.
- Earphones/headphones/speakers.
We will contact you with joining instructions before your course starts.

What will we cover?

Topics: personality traits; feelings and opinions; wishes.

Grammar: consolidation of the difference between passé composé and imparfait; conditional ('si' clauses); direct and indirect pronouns, en & y; comparisons.

What will I achieve?
By the end of this course you should be able to...

- describe somebody's personality
- refer to past events confidently
- express wishes
- make comparisons
- express feelings and opinions

Please note that the learning outcomes may vary depending on the general progress made by the students.

What level is the course and do I need any particular skills?

Students should have done two years of French recently and have completed French 2 upper: module 1 or have an equivalent knowledge of the language.

It is also essential that you have some knowledge of basic grammar terminology (e.g. verb, noun, conjugation).

How will I be taught, and will there be any work outside the class?

Our courses are characterised by spoken interaction and communication. Typical activities include pair work, group work, role-plays and games. A range of resources will be used to support your learning including presentations, hand-outs, and audio-visual material.

Are there any other costs? Is there anything I need to bring?

Homework will be based on La Grammaire en Clair (Nelson).

Definitely worth doing. However try to establish your skill level accurately as I do another class which I think is too basic for my needs.

If you'd like to refresh your French this is a friendly and nice way to do it. The tutor is supportive and friendly and she makes each lesson relevant and fun with great mix of listening, speaking, working in groups and individual feedback.

Very good tutor but the course has too many students on it and most turn up every week. 10-12 students would be ideal. We have 18-20.

This is an excellent course which balances the four elements in an imaginative way (chansons, word matching games, a humorous grammar book). The class emphasis is speaking and listening; new grammar is introduced in the lesson and consolidated for homework. Writing tasks are 'modelled' and there is an opportunity every week for free writing which is impeccably marked. Students can prepare in advance for new topics. I've done a few language courses in the past (not at City Lit) and this is far and away the best - it's challenging, but very rewarding.

This was such an enjoyable course. The teacher fostered a great atmosphere so we could be confident and relaxed about trying out our French on each other. The pace was steady with plenty of revision if needed. The teacher used an interesting variety of media in the class so the 90 mins flew by each week. Can't wait for the next module!
