I have always had an interest in history and have been a London guide since 2014. I qualified at Westminster University and the course focused on Clerkenwell and Islington. Since then however, I have led tours all over London. At City Lit I lead walks in the City of London from September until April and in the ‘villages’ in the spring and summer. A student commented to me this week that I always seem so enthusiastic even though I may have done a walk a number times. I think that’s because it is probably the best job in the world, I’m out and about, I meet so many interesting people at City Lit both staff and students, people seem to enjoy what I do and I get a chance to share the history of this great city. Every area has so many surprises and it is music to my ears when students say to me “I know this part of London so well but I never knew that”.
