What is the course about?
This course is designed for highly competent English users who want to refine and expand their grammar knowledge. You’ll explore advanced grammatical structures in rich, real-world contexts—such as current affairs, art, and culture—where precise and nuanced language is essential. The focus is on both accuracy and how grammar shapes meaning in spoken and written communication.
What will we cover?
Topics will be tailored to the group’s needs, but are likely to include:
· Perfect verb forms: usage and meaning
· Continuous vs simple verb forms
· The passive voice: when, why, and how to use it
· Formal structures: e.g. negative adverbials and word order inversion
· Talking in general terms
· Abstract nouns and relative clauses
· Articles: when to use and omit them
· Verb + particle/preposition combinations
· Infinitives vs –ing forms
· Expressing the future in different ways

· Distinguish between continuous and simple forms and their meanings

· Combine verbs with particles and prepositions correctly
· Decide when to use infinitives or –ing forms
What level is the course and do I need any particular skills?
This course is suitable for learners at Level 2+ (C1–C2). It is ideal for those who want to deepen their understanding of grammar and how it contributes to meaning and clarity in communication.
How will I be taught, and will there be any work outside the class?
You’ll learn in a supportive, interactive environment that encourages discovery and collaboration. Activities will include:

· Prioritising, negotiating, and collaborating
· Step-by-step guidance from your tutor
· Regular feedback and personalised support
You’ll also be expected to complete work outside of class and use Google Classroom to access materials, videos, and communicate with your tutor and classmates.
