What is the course about?
This course aims to help you to continue improving your beginners Italian so that you can feel confident in everyday situations. You'll continue to establish a base of grammar and vocabulary that will help you to communicate in everyday scenarios.
What will we cover?
Based on Units 5, 6 and 7 of Nuovo Espresso 1 (Alma Edizioni - Italian version).
Topics: hotel; directions; describing a place; holiday
Grammar: the present tense (regular and irregular verbs); prepositions; questions; adjectives; agreement of gender.
What will I achieve?
By the end of this course you should be able to...
- book a hotel room
- give and understand directions
- describe a place
- prepositions
- correct use of c'e' and ci sono
- expand the range of questions you're able to ask.
What level is the course and do I need any particular skills?
Italian beginners: module 2. This is the second term of first-year Italian. You should have completed Italian beginners: module 1 or equivalent (one term of part-time study). If you're unsure of your level, please email Italian@citylit.ac.uk.

How will I be taught, and will there be any work outside the class?
Our courses are characterised by spoken interaction and communication. Typical activities include pair work, group work, role plays and games. A range of resources will be used to support your learning including presentations, hand-outs, and audio-visual material.
Homework is highly recommended to consolidate learning.
