What is the course about?

To enable you to communicate more fully and fluently in a wider range of everyday situations and conversations.

What will we cover?

Topics: Finding where things or people are, understanding information about touristic destinations, describing people and place what you did, visiting someone's house

Language points: Interogation (wh … questions), basic verbs with appropriate particles, adjectives, negative form and past tense, preposition to express location

Culture: Japanese customs at home or in other places.

What will I achieve?
By the end of this course you should be able to...

descibe simply famous tourist destinations
ask where things are
understand where things are
talk simply about last weekend or holiday
give a compliment
express gratitude
use basic daily expressions.

What level is the course and do I need any particular skills?

Near beginners,
It is essential to have basic knowledge of Japanese grammar (Question words and particles), about 10 basic verbs with negative, past and past negative forms, Vocabulary ( name of the places, objects. family titles, 8 adjectives )

How will I be taught, and will there be any work outside the class?

The course is based on the communicative approach:
- active students’ interaction
- emphasis on speaking and listening skills
- pair and group work
- role plays
- use of realia, pictures and authentic material
- use of audio-visual techniques when appropriate
Please note, students are expected to participate in oral classroom activities and to do some homework as and when required.
