What is the course about?

The course is designed to introduce you to the Latin language or remind you what you have learned before, revising and building on your basic knowledge. Details of the resources used in this course can be found here.

What will I achieve?
By the end of this course you should be able to...

  • read and write simple Latin sentences
  • demonstrate basic knowledge of verb forms (conjugations)
  • demonstrate basic knowledge of Latin nouns and adjectives
  • have some insights into the derivation of English words
  • demonstrate some knowledge on the world of ancient Rome

What level is the course and do I need any particular skills?

How will I be taught, and will there be any work outside the class?

The course consists of grammar instructions, grammar exercises and translation with a high level of student interaction (individual, pair and group work). Students are expected to do the homework regularly, check the material uploaded on Google Classroom and participate in oral classroom activities. Homework will require approx. 1-2 hours per week.
