The course fee is £2349. If you are unable to pay the course fee upfront, you can choose to apply for an Advanced Learning Loan from the Student Loans Company (SLC) to help cover the cost. What is the course about?
This course aims to introduce you to key concepts such as cognition and technology, ideas and solution generation, accessibility guidelines and information architecture. You'll gain knowledge of UX/UI methods such as user testing, design guidelines, data gathering techniques, personas and prototyping, privacy consideration and the use of design software such as Figma. It will prepare you for a career path such as UX/UI designer, UX researcher, Information Architect, Interaction Designer, UX Accessibility, product manager, product owner (PO), content strategist and any other future roles that may emerge as technology develops.
On successful completion of this course participants will be awarded an NCFE Level 3 Certificate in UX/UI and a portfolio piece to apply for a position in the world of UX/UI.

If you are unable to pay this upfront, you can choose to apply for an Advanced Learner Loan from Student Finance England (SFE) Advanced Learner Loan to help you cover some of the costs of learning. The maximum amount of loan you can get for this course will be £941. You will need to pay £558 on enrolment.

This course will be delivered online and in person, and will involve tutor presentation and class discussion. Student preparation and homework outside class times is strongly encouraged. To fully participate in this online class you will need:

- A computer/laptop/tablet with a fully updated browser (preferably google chrome). Your device will need a microphone, and preferably a camera.

What will I achieve?
By the end of this course you should be able to...
Demonstrate through a portfolio User Experience (UX) & Visual Design (UI) methodologies to identify problems, research solutions and create visual prototypes to test with users.
You will be able to understand and explain the steps required to design a user interface from concept, user research to a finished designed website layout prototype ready for production.
What level is the course and do I need any particular skills?
This is an accredited Level 3 course. You should be able to follow spoken instructions, read written instructions and information, and discuss work with your tutor and peers in English. As this is a level 3 portfolio based accredited course you will be required to complete tasks in your portfolio so your written English should be at least at level 2 GCSE or equivalent.
You should be a confident computer user with good file management skills.Useful to know but not essential: an understanding of User Experience and awareness of design. Awareness of general design tools such as Adobe suite, Figma.
How will I be taught, and will there be any work outside the class?
This course has a blended format. It will be delivered online with 3 hours sessions running twice a week. However, you will be required to come in for six Saturdays from 10:30am till 4:30pm during the duration of this course. These dates are the 19th of October, the 7th of December, the 1st of February, the 15th of March, 3rd and 24th of May from 10:30-16:30pm. There will be self directed learning as well as work assigned outside of class to create a stronger project. The more you work outside of class the more you’ll be able to push your portfolio piece and learn more. You will be expected to attend at least 90% of the all sessions and assign 5 additional hours a week on top of the teaching contact time. You will also need to take notes to record the user research in a notebook.
Are there any other costs? Is there anything I need to bring?
You need access to a laptop/computer that can run Chrome browser efficiently, a good internet connection and a notebook.
When I've finished, what course can I do next?
You can continue to further your studies by learning HTML, CSS and JavaScript (the languages that drive the web).
