What is the course about?
Get to know common trees, focussing on bark, twigs, leaves, outline, seeds and fruits in the relaxing atmosphere of Regent's Park, giving you the confidence to get to know what to look for when identifying trees.
We will contact you with specific meeting instructions and a map/directions before your course starts.
What will we cover?

- useful books
- guide sheets.
What level is the course and do I need any particular skills?
Everyone is welcome. You do not need any particular skills but should be able to keep up with the rest of the group when moving about.
How will I be taught, and will there be any work outside the class?
Practical and participative we will select trees whoch demonstrate particular features at this time of year.
Are there any other costs? Is there anything I need to bring?
There are no additional costs for the course. However, you may wish to have a notebook and pen at hand. If you already have a tree identification book or/ and a hand lens, please bring it with you. A Key to Common Trees is available from www.field-studies-council.org/publications. You will need good strong non slip walking shoes, warm clothing, raincoat and umbrella as the classes take place whatever the weather.
There will be a break for tea/coffee in the café or bring a flask.

Letta Jones, MA, is a Lecturer in Horticulture and Garden History. She taught at Capel Manor College and and Birkbeck, University of London for 15 years. She now teaches classes at the City Lit, Marlborough College Summer School, Woodbrooke,Denman, Glenthorne and Knuston Hall. She is part of the Garden History Grapevine/Gardens Trust group which offers introductory and advanced courses in garden history www.gardenhistorygrapevine.wordpress.com. A guide at the Chelsea Physic Garden for 18 years, Letta now teaches on their education programme. She is a Green Flag Park judge and she also leads her own garden study tours abroad.
