What is the course about?

This course is suitable if you are new to the UK or have missed school education because of language barriers. You will learn basic maths skills, including addition, subtraction, money management, telling the time, and simple measurements.

What will we cover?

Use whole numbers (0-10), including counting, ordering, and comparing.

Do simple addition and subtraction with totals up to 10.

Use calendars, time, and money in everyday situations.

Use basic measurements (length, size, width, height).

Recognise and select common 2‑D and 3‑D shapes.

Use simple data, such as lists, to find information and sort or classify objects.

What level is the course and do I need any particular skills?

How will I be taught, and will there be any work outside the class?

You will learn in a deaf-only group with a tutor fluent inBSL.Teaching is supportive and includes pair and small‑group activities. An interactive whiteboard and Google Classroom will support your learning, and handouts will help you build a folder of work. You will receive regular homework and have opportunities for one‑to‑one tutorials to discuss your individual learning needs.

Are there any other costs? Is there anything I need to bring?

It is recommended that you bring:
-appropriate stationary(e.g. pens, highlighter pens etc)
- Notebook
- A file to keep your work in..
