What is the course about?

The course aims to revise and build on the basics covered at levels 1 and 2 lower. In particular, it aims to expand the students' vocabulary and grammar knowledge, so that learners can understand and produce accurate and appropriate language in a range of communicative occasions.

What will we cover?

Describing family, describing people and character, reading newspaper articles, writing formal letters, talking about your free time, informal and formal phone conversations, describing your house, renting a flat in Athens, transportation & travelling in Athens.
Grammar: Revision & consolidation: nouns (nominative, accusative, genitive singular & plural), present simple (active & reflective/passive voice), personal pronouns (object)

New language: indefinite article, the absence of article, personal pronouns( genitive), possessive pronouns, question words, indefinite pronouns, demonstrative pronouns.

Describe the characteristics & character of your family & friends
Hold an informal & formal telephone conversation
Understand newspaper articles on familiar topics
Explain problems that your house may have
Make enquiries about renting & buying a flat and about moving house
Give directions
Arrange your travel in Athens
Describing your free time.

What level is the course and do I need any particular skills?

Level 2 upper course. Students should have studied Modern Greek for 2 years recently or have an equivalent knowledge of the language. You will also need to respond to simple instructions and read course documents in English and be at ease with the use of numbers for daily activities (using money, telling the time etc.).

How will I be taught, and will there be any work outside the class?
